The wood used for cooking just about all of the menu items adds as lot of flavor, in particular to the cuts of beef.

The various cuts of meat and sides are steakhouse-like on the menu, but I hate to think of Maple & Ash as a steakhouse, as it's far more than that and rises way above the usual steakhouse suspects. Servers are well dressed and know their stuff inside and out (special shout out to Russel, who was awesome), yet conduct themselves without the pomp that all too often permeates these sort of places.

If the open kitchen and clean lines of the dining area with its place shear curtains don't set the tone, the complimentary welcome martini will. I can't wait to return. The outdoor sidewalk seating and downstairs bar area that greet guests on the first floor don't remotely do justice for what one is in for upon arriving to the main dining area on the upper floor. The special touch of a personalized birthday menu, a comped piece of birthday cake, and amazing service makes dining at Maple and Ash a wonderful experience. Wine and cocktail choices all excellent as well. We had the steak frites (amazing value considering what you are getting), the cowgirl steak, the octopus appetizer, Brussels, and roasted cauliflower. Get the seafood tower! All our other choices were amazing as well. Our table was blown away with how wonderful it tasted and I can't imagine going to Maple and Ash in the future and not getting this dish. It was easy to share, the slightly charred taste to the seafood was outstanding and the most awesome part was that when finished, they add a bit of butter and fresh pasta to the leftover seafood juices to make a pasta dish to share.

I cannot express highly enough that the roasted seafood tower is a MUST. We told our waiter about this so he asked when we needed to leave and made sure our food arrived in time for us to enjoy it and not feel like we had to quickly eat. We were slightly pushed for time (our table was not yet ready when we arrived, the only slight negative to our experience since we were pushed for time). Since we wanted to try as many things a possible, we ordered based on the fact that we would want to share with each other. We had an extraordinary meal that I will not soon forget. I went with a small group to Maple and Ash for my birthday. Very good acoustics along with the food & service in such a gracious setting made for a very special evening. There were some tiny service blips but nothing outrageous and it was a pleasure to dine in a restaurant where I didn’t strain to hear my companion. Well balanced medium roast coffee was a pleasure to drink along with an after dinner digestif. For dessert an enormous thin slice of coconut custard pie and an Apple galette. Another side of asparagus was nicely roasted & seasoned but we could only eat a few stalks. My husband loved his meal & the potato gratin. The yellowfin carpaccio had the perfect amount of citrus & pepper bite, my wagyu strip with a side of truffled whipped potatoes was heaven & I would happily order that cut of meat again and again and again. All the food was delicious, and I felt like we received excellent value. Portions are large and one side dish could even serve as an appetizer for two guests. I would suggest sharing an appetizer and dessert and ordering individual mains. This is way too much food for even the heartiest of eaters.

In fairness, we ordered with abandon: 2 starters, 2 sides, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. It’s an expensive menu and our meal for two came to roughly $400. We came to celebrate a birthday and were warmly greeted with complimentary chamomile martinis (delicious!), a souvenir birthday menu and well wishes. It’s a beautiful restaurant, romantic yet not overly fussy, so it would also work well as a business dinner venue.
